Sheryl Marks, M.D. USAP Bio

About Me
I am a physician anesthesiologist and enjoy a wide range of clinical roles including providing anesthesia services for general surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, and obstetrical care.  I also enjoy staffing our preoperative clinic which focuses on clinical optimization of patients prior to surgery.  I have been a private practice anesthesiologist since 2007.

I currently live in Seattle with my husband, who is also a physician, and our two boys.  We have another baby coming, summer of 2017.

As a family we love to explore the Pacific Northwest and continue to regularly visit all of the places we've collectively called home in the past including Northern California, Southern California, Maine, New York, and Ohio!

I am a voracious consumer of good books and interesting food and an enthusiastic home chef.

Areas of clinical interest
I am particularly interested in perioperative medicine with a focus on preoperative care coordination, preoperative anemia management and perioperative management of glucose control.

I represented our anesthesia group during  in the ASA sponsored national Perioperative Surgical Home Collaborative initiative and continue to remain involved with efforts to improve quality and efficiency of patient care and collection of clinical and process outcomes across the spectrum of the perioperative encounter.

"In the short amount of time we have preoperatively, I am focused on forging an impactful connection with my patients. Obtaining a relevant medical history, understanding all peri-operative concerns and communicating options for a safe anesthetic plan, allows me to successfully execute in my role as a perioperative physician and dedicated patient advocate."
